It will be nothing but net for Warwick Stadium and the local basketball community under a re-elected WA Labor Government, with $16 million committed towards a major $26 million upgrade.
The funding will support the Stadium’s major redevelopment, with new facilities including three additional courts, physiotherapy facilities, gymnasium, wellness centre, coaches’ offices, function space and other features.
The redevelopment will also include upgrades to existing facilities, such as changerooms, public toilets, umpire changerooms, community space, lifts and stairs.
Once complete, the project and three new community courts will allow for an additional 800 kids to play at Warwick Stadium and help to increase the basketball development pathways for talented players.
It will also provide a new dedicated home to the Perth Wildcats and Perth Lynx, with the teams to relocate to Warwick Stadium and operate both their headquarters and basketball academy at the one location.
This WA Labor contribution will allow Warwick Stadium to seek additional funding support from third parties, including private entities and other levels of government.
