A re-elected Cook Labor Government will fund a major $745 million program to deliver quality school infrastructure and facilities for Western Australian students, including funding towards 11 new schools and upgrades to dozens more.
WA Labor’s commitment is among the biggest school infrastructure investments in WA history and will benefit families right across the State, catering for increased enrolments in Perth’s growing suburbs and making funding available to update ageing facilities.
Under a re-elected Cook Labor Government, new primary schools funded to open in 2028 include:
The new Brabham Senior High School is also funded and will open for Term 1, 2029.
Planning funding will be provided to lay the groundwork for six future schools, including new secondary schools at Alkimos North and Dawesville, and new primary schools at Anketell, Mount Lawley West, Byford North and Brabham South.
A re-elected Cook Labor Government will also create WA’s first dedicated, rolling fund to undertake major refurbishments of ageing schools across the State.
The $286 million School Infrastructure Fund will enable the gradual refurbishment of WA’s hundreds of public primary and secondary schools, many of which were built in the 1960s and 70s and require major redevelopments to continue delivering students a world-class education.
The first round of school redevelopments under a re-elected Cook Labor Government will include:
In addition to the School Infrastructure Fund, a re-elected Cook Labor Government will provide $83 million for smaller infrastructure projects, including classroom refurbishments, sporting facilities, play equipment, student services upgrades and other minor works.
WA Labor’s school infrastructure commitments build on the Cook Labor Government’s record $4.8 billion education infrastructure investment since 2017.
