Upgrades for Albany high schools under re-elected WA Labor

A re-elected Cook Labor Government will invest $22 million in an expansion of North Albany Senior High School.
  • $22 million commitment to expand North Albany Senior High School
  • $5.8 million to Albany Senior High School for upgrades
  • Part of WA Labor’s major $745 million announcement to deliver quality school infrastructure and facilities for Western Australian students

A re-elected Cook Labor Government will invest $22 million in an expansion of North Albany Senior High School.

The school was built in 1982 and requires new facilities to continue providing Albany students with a world-class education, particularly with an increasing local population.

The $22 million investment from WA Labor will provide a new double storey general learning area block to accommodate about 200 students.

It builds on the Cook Labor Government’s strong record of investing in schools in the Great Southern, with $5.8 million allocated at the 2024-25 Mid-Year Review for upgrades at Albany Senior High School.

This investment will fund upgrades to the design and technology workshops and structural works at the school’s stone wall.

The package reflects WA Labor’s commitment to giving WA students the best education, following last week’s major $745 million announcement to deliver quality school infrastructure and facilities.

Comments attributed to Education Minister Dr Tony Buti:

“School plays such a critical role in shaping a young person’s future, and the environment they learn in plays a key part in that."

“That’s why we are committing to do what’s right for WA and continue our record investment in new and improved school infrastructure right across Western Australia."

“Only WA Labor has a plan and vison for continuing to provide world-class education to students in the State.”

Comments attributed to Albany MLA Rebecca Stephens:

“This is a big win for our local Albany community, with so many families sending their students to both North Albany and Albany Senior High School for their schooling years."

“As our local population continues to grow, it’s important our schools and infrastructure can keep pace and continue meeting the needs of our students to help them reach their full potential.”
