A re-elected Cook Labor Government has committed to safety upgrades and works to improve key Albany motorsport facilities.
The Albany Speedway will benefit from a $400,000 contribution for upgrades to its safety wall and catch fence, and the Albany City Kart Club will receive $100,000 to deliver a standalone medical facility on location.
These investments form part of the re-elected Cook Labor Government’s overarching motorsports package, which for the first time will see grassroots clubs receive a major coordinated funding boost to improve kart clubs, speedways and motorcycle clubs around the State.
This election commitment builds on the Cook Labor Government’s investment into Great Southern motorcross facilities including more than $8.42 million for the Albany Motorsport Park project. Once complete, the purpose-built environment will cater for multiple sports including circuit racing, speed racing, 4WD and driver training, motocross, and cycling plus social club events.
While in the city, the Cook Labor Government has also committed to build a $217.5 million motorsport Street Circuit and entertainment precinct at Burswood Park.
