Western Australians will be able to access free flu jabs for a fourth year in a row, with the Cook Labor Government today committing to continue the successful program if re-elected.
The program will be available to all Western Australians aged six months and older in the months of May and June, optimising protection over the peak period for influenza transmission.
First offered in 2022, the free flu jab program has seen hundreds of thousands of Western Australians receive the vaccine, protecting them against severe illness.
Vaccination is the best defence against the highly contagious respiratory illness, influenza, which can cause life-threatening complications, particularly among older adults, people with underlying medical conditions and young children.
Today’s significant cost-of-living relief announcement will save families money in vaccination costs while reducing the amount of time parents need to take off work to look after sick children.
The commitment builds on WA Labor’s record funding for cost-of-living relief measures, with more than $1.1 billion invested in programs which put money back in the pockets of Western Australians in the last year alone.
