  • $1 million funding commitment to upgrade Kalbarri Health Centre’s air conditioning
  • Facility provides important health services to the local community
  • Commitment builds on WA Labor’s track record of investment in regional healthcare

A re-elected Cook Labor Government will replace the ageing air conditioning system at Kalbarri Health Centre, keeping medical staff and patients cool and comfortable as temperatures rise.

Kalbarri Health Centre provides essential healthcare for local residents, including 24-hour acute and emergency care, allied health services, palliative care and Telehealth, along with facilitating visits from mental health and community drug and alcohol services.

Today’s $1 million commitment will upgrade the Centre’s air conditioning, which is operational but is nearing the end of its usable life.

The announcement builds on the Cook Labor Government’s record investment in health and mental health services, with more than $14.3 billion in additional funding since 2021.

If re-elected, WA Labor will also deliver the biggest ever expansion of the popular Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) program, directly benefitting regional residents who need to travel for treatment.

Comments attributed to Regional Development Minister Don Punch:

“From the historic expansion of the PATS program, to record health investment, the Cook Labor Government is delivering quality healthcare for regional WA."

“Today’s commitment will ensure patients and staff at the Kalbarri Health Campus stay cool and comfortable in the heat.”

Comments attributed to Member for Geraldton Lara Dalton:

“Only the Cook Labor Government will ensure Western Australians have access to great care, no matter where they live."

“This upgrade to the air conditioning at Kalbarri Health Campus will be welcomed by locals who rely on this important service for care and treatment.”
