A re-elected Cook Labor Government will establish the successful Safe at Home program in Karratha, supporting victim-survivors of family and domestic violence (FDV) to stay in their own homes.

Announced in Karratha today, the $1.6 million commitment will ensure local women and children remain safe after a dangerous perpetrator has been removed from their home.

Today’s announcement is part of the Cook Labor Government’s significant $38.6 million FDV package, which also includes reforms to the Restraining Orders Act, making our FVRO regime tougher for perpetrators and easier for victim-survivors engaging in the justice process.

The announcement builds on the Cook Labor Government’s proven record of action to end the scourge of FDV, with more than $550 million in additional investment since 2017. During the same period refuge capacity has also been increased by around 30 per cent.
