  • Works to deliver more opportunities and better outcomes for regional students
  • Builds on the Cook Labor Government’s record of investment in education

A re-elected Cook Labor Government will do what’s right for Kimberley students by committing $8 million for upgrades at non-government remote schools across the region.

The investment will fund important infrastructure works to ensure remote students have the best possible resources and facilities.

The Kimberley’s 14 remote schools educate children in locations where there is no State school and currently cater to almost 700 students from communities including Beagle Bay, Balgo, Lombadina, Kulkarriya and Purnululu.

The funding will provide grants to individual schools and will be needs based, addressing the most critical projects at these schools.

The commitment builds on the Cook Labor Government’s proven track record of investment in education, with an additional $532 million allocated in the most recent State Budget.

In addition, a re-elected Cook Labor Government will also provide important cost of living relief for parents, with an $89 million commitment for another round of the popular WA Student Assistance Payment.

Every parent with school-aged students in the State will be eligible for the payment which provides $250 for secondary school students and $150 for those in primary school and kindergarten.

For this round of the WASAP, $1.2 million will also be invested for extra resources for schools where the payment was undersubscribed in 2024.

This targeted support will include direct engagement with schools and a helpline to ensure school communities have the resources they need to assist students with making a claim.
