Major job-creating projects will receive a $60 million boost, with the Cook Labor Government committing to a second round of the Investment Attraction Funds’ New Energies Industries stream if re-elected.
The funding is available for innovative clean and renewable energy projects in areas including critical minerals, green iron and steel, hydrogen and carbon capture and storage.
Individual projects will be eligible for up to $15 million each, helping businesses to get off the ground, scale-up and expand capacity.
The last round of the IAF New Energies Industries stream recently awarded a total of $60 million to a range of projects across the State including low carbon steel, carbon capture and storage projects, processing for battery precursors including graphite and a pilot for green lithium.
These projects are at the cutting edge of the clean energy transition - reducing emissions from steel and other hard to abate sectors and producing the batteries the world needs for a clean energy future.
Today’s announcement will build on WA Labor’s work to diversify the economy for the future.
