A re-elected Cook Labor Government will deliver $23 million for outdoor adventure projects to drive regional tourism across the State, support local jobs and businesses, and encourage Western Australians to enjoy the great outdoors.

This includes a $5 million contribution to the planned Jarrahdale Trails Centre, which will provide a new hub for the growing trails tourism industry in Serpentine-Jarrahdale, including a visitor information centre, space for a cafe or food trucks, equipment hire, retail space, first aid area and toilets.

In addition to the Jarrahdale Trails Centre, the $15.6 million trails, hiking, mountain biking and national park package includes a new walking and cycling path from Serpentine into the national park, as well as a range of regional projects.

WA Labor will also invest $7.4 million in new fishing infrastructure, habitat improvement and better fishing access for people with disability.

This includes an expansion of the fishing platform at Hillarys Boat Harbour with refurbishment of amenities including universal access toilets, as well as support for a new fishing platform at Quinns Rocks.

The package builds on the Cook Labor Government’s $165 million Outdoor Adventure Tourism package announced at the 2024-25 State Budget, which is supporting boating and maritime facilities, campgrounds, trails and other tourism initiatives across WA.

Comments attributed to Tourism Minister Rita Saffioti:

“We want every Western Australian and visitor to our State to enjoy what our outdoors has to offer, whether it’s along our incredible coastline, among the towering trees in our stunning national parks or at any one of our unique tourism attractions."

“By further improving and investing in these facilities and sites, we’re ensuring Western Australia remains a world-class tourism destination of choice for travellers, especially in our regions."

“We know that by encouraging people to visit these sites, it means more visitors to our regions, which will support local jobs and businesses and help to diversify our economy."

“That’s why a re-elected WA Labor Government will always support regional tourism.”
